Phi Beta Iota: The article is an excellent example of empty media commentary, treating the Defense budget, its global challenges, and the imminent departure of the Secretary of Defense as theater.  The US is spending close to one trillion dollars a year now on defense, inclusive of retired pay and benefits that have long been concealed with slight of hand book-keeping.  Reducing that budget by $100 billion, 10%, over multiple years, is a crystal-clear depiction of how othe US Government is approaching both management and budgeting.
