Phi Beta Iota: In an unusually complementary set of headlines, Secrecy News is offering a snap-shot of why government is no longer capable of governance.  Excessive secrecy to conceal fraud, waste, and abuse is old news–what is new is the fact that the Congressional Research Service (CRS) is so completely out of touch with reality as to actually think that transparency will “slow down” governance.  They clearly do not understand that in the face of complexity only hybrid networks are agile and informed enough to be effective.  The era of top-down governance by government is OVER.  Government is no longer really “government,” and hence not worth the effort to reform.   It's time to route around government and get back to sane, holistic self-governance at the local level, to include state and local nullification of top-down federal regulation that are rooted in corruption and secrecy.  The next target is going to be taxation without honest representation–it cannot be said that Congress–or the White House–represent more than a tiny fraction of America, nor can it be said that any more than 50%, at best, of the federal expenditures “in our name” are in fact in the public interest.
