Obama Team Feared Coup If He Prosecuted War Crimes

OpEdNews, 7 September 2011

President-Elect Obama's advisers feared in 2008 that authorities would oust him in a coup and that Republicans would block his policy agenda if he prosecuted Bush-era war crimes, according to a law school dean who served as one of Obama's top transition advisers.

University of California at Berkeley Law School Dean Christopher Edley, Jr., above, the sixth highest-ranking member of the 2008 post-election transition team preparing Obama's administration, revealed the team's thinking on Sept. 2 in moderating a forum on 9/11 held by his law school (also known as Boalt Hall). Edley was seeking to explain Obama's “look forward” policy on suspected Bush-era law-breaking that the president-elect announced on a TV talk show in January 2009.

Phi Beta Iota:  Since Lyndon Johnson and elements of the CIA and associated criminal families conspired to assassinate President John F. Kennedy–and then got away with it so easily–all subsequent Presidents have been pawns, and in the case of Richard Nixon, removed from office by a coup engineered by the Bush Family.  Bill Clinton did better than most at steering within his gilded cage, but he too was subordinate to larger forces.  Obama was elected by 30% of the eligible voters–a tiny majority within the 56.4% that voted.  Not only did he not have a mandate, he accepted over $300 million in still unaccounted for major contributions, and essentially told himself into servitude to Wall Street.  There is nothing substantive about the White House or Congress these days–both are mostly theater, always shallow, and beneath contempt for their failure to represent the public.   The author of the article raises some important points, but clearly does not grasp the degree to which the US Government is both out of control and not at all a government–the various Cabinet Departments serve more as stewards for the budget share of the special interests that RECEIVE the taxpayer dollar, rather than as advocates for the public interest.  In a word, they are corrupt.  They lack integrity.  The good news is that there is nothing wrong with America that cannot be fixed quickly and decisively by restoring the integrity of the electoral system and then of the government.  Not a single candidate now campaigning has articulated the most basic propositions relevant to rescuing the republic.
