Phi Beta Iota: Nation States (and banks and corporporations) are the apex of the top down command and control industrial era “because we say so” form of governance.  They are generally retarded, ineffecient, and except for BENELUX and the Nordics and Singapore-Malaysia, generally very corrupt as well. What is really happening is that the legitimacy of the state is being destroyed in the eyes of the public, at the same time that the Internet is making possible a rapid advance of cultural norms in which human rights without borders are trumping the West and its love of dictators.
