We the People Reform Coalition / Electoral Reform

ROBERT STEELE: There is no point to fighting a corrupt government on any small issue, be it climate change, the persistent Wall Street bail-out or the truth about 9/11. The government is corrupt to the bone across all three branches — Executive, Legislative, and Judicial. Good people — absolutely — trapped in a bad system. As long as government is corrupt, banks and mega-industries will be corrupt. There is only one fight worth fighting, and it happens to be the one fight We the People can win: Electoral Reform.

I have a vision in which the six accredited small parties (Constitution, Green, Libertarian, Natural Law, Reform, Socialist) and the two rising but non-accredited parties (Working Families, Justice) come together with Occupy and Independents to re-validate and tweak two existing documents from the 2011-2012 discussion that I nurtured — unsuccessfully — among Occupy and all the major self-appointed voices for Electoral Reform:

2011-11-08 Statement of Demand on Electoral Reform 3.4

2011-12-24 Electoral Reform Act of 2012 [4.4]

Imagine Ron Paul (who introduced electoral reform legislation four times), Dennis Kucinich, Cynthia McKinney, Ralph Nader, Jesse Ventura, Jill Stein, Gary Johnson, Bill DeBlasio, Rocky Anderson, and myself — perhaps joined by a few billionaires such as Michael Bloomberg, Tom Stayer, Mort Zuckerman, and David Rubinstein, coming together no later than 15 March 2015 to issue the first document above (as revised by the group), with a demand for the second document (as revised by the group) being passed as legislation prior to the 4th of July 2015 and in  time to assure an open honest national election in 2016. This would change everything for the better, non-violently, efficiently.

Do not underestimate for one moment the power of We the People occupying the front lawns and home offices of every Governor, Senator, and Representative until such time as they capitulate to our reasonable demand.

There is nothing wrong with America the Beautiful that cannot be fixed — and fixed quickly — by restoring integrity to our electoral process, and thence to our government, and thereby to our economy and society.

I have done all one man can do to make this point. I am not running for any office. I would be glad to spend my time making the case across the country for the urgency of demanding the Electoral Reform Act of 2015. We need an uplifting national conversation on this point. I pray that it might occur.

Semper Fidelis,
Robert Steele
