Is Flawed Terrorism Research Driving Flawed Counterterrorism Policies?

More than thirteen years after the U.S. intelligence community named the prevention of terrorism its number one goal, it seems to have little understanding of what drives terrorism, or how to counter it. And, if the recently increasing criticism is correct, the government’s investment in academic terrorism research isn’t helping. It may be because the government is continuing to fund research supporting discredited theories of terrorist radicalization, rather than objective empirical analyses.

ROBERT STEELE: This is a lovely article and merits careful reading with one caveat — it completely misses the point. We do not lack of honest understanding of the roots of terrorism or the need for Whole of Government programs devoted to creating prosperity and peace for the many — we lack for intelligence with integrity on the one hand, and governance with integrity on the other. Absent the abolishment of the present corrupt two-party tyranny fronting for the banks and the mega-industrial complexes, the US Government will continue to consist of tens of millions of good people trapped in a bad system that is devoted to a) moving money from the individual taxpayer to the banks and corporations; b) supporting 42 of 44 dictators as a subsidized market for the mega-industrial complexes; and c) borrowing a trillion a year to support what Matt Taibbi calls “Griftopia” — the “highly complicated merger of crime and policy, of stealing and government.” In this context terrorism is a false flag threat in all its forms — from legitimate local resistance to invasive militarism to state-sponsored (e.g. ISIS by Saudi Arabia, Paris 12 by Mossad and French intelligence) to domestic provocation (all DHS exercises pawned off as real and all FBI “catches” best depicted by the retarded Muslim kid given $3000 to move out of his mother's home  to create a terrorist cell under FBI direction). Those of us who do understand holistic analytics and true costs economics are censored, silenced, marginalized, and in some cases financially ruined by the agents of both foreign and domestic powers who will brook no opposition to their profiteering “pay any price” narrative of greed at public expense. After a quarter century of seeking to reform US secret intelligence, I have finally realized that there is no issue, no fact, that will get a fair hearing in today's deeply corrupt meld of legalized political crime. Electoral Reform is the one fight We the People can win and it is the foundation for radically reconnecting America the Beautiful and its government, economy, and society, to reality.
