We were surprised this morning to learn that Ray McGovern, a CIA veteran whose credibility we respect, is saying that Leon Panetta and Barack Obama may be treating CIA with kid gloves for fear of being assassinated by the “insider” CIA that itself fears criminal prosecution for the death of over 100 detainees in CIA custody.  Food for thought.  Read McGovern's thoughts at The Media Consortium, “Ray McGovern Warns of ‘Two CIA's.'”

There are two sides to this matter.  How many CIA's?  Does CIA assassinate U.S. citizens including leaders?

How Many CIA's?

We have previously written, in a review of Trance: Formation of America (and elsewhere) of five CIA's.

Also, there are at least five CIA's:

1) The White House CIA

2) The Wall Street CIA

3) The somewhat effective in specific instances “special” CIA

4) The 80% ineffective CIA operating from official installations

5) The Safari Club that sodomizes children, kidnaps people, and practices rendition and torture with impunity.

During the Allen Dulles era we suspect there was a strong element of “we know better” and an additional element of “Presidents are temporal, institutions are forever,” but on balance we agree with Richard Helms and Bill Colby, the only professional leaders at CIA of note, who were not only subordinate to the President, but in two instances–one refusing Nixon's request for illegal cover-up assistance and one making public CIA's long list of internal mis-deeds–served the public interest over that of the institution.

Does CIA Assassinate US Citizens and US Leaders?

In our judgement, CIA poses no threat to the lives of Leon Panetta and Barack Obama, and to suggest this is to misunderstand the realities.  Barack Obama is a captive of Wall Street, and Leon Panetta is an apparatchik having a great time being “one of the boys.”  Neither actually cares whether CIA gets it right or not, because intelligence does not matter in this Administration, just as it did not in the last.

Ray McGovern points to a book we have ordered and will review shortly, JFK and the Unspeakable: Why He Died and Why It Matters as evidence that John F. Kennedy was assassinated by the CIA as an institution.  Pending a full read of that book, we disagree and point instead to Someone Would Have Talked: The Assassination of President John F. Kennedy and the Conspiracy to Mislead History (Steele's summative review visible at this link).

As with Dick Cheney and 9/11, we believe that selected CIA officers “let it happen” but that JFK was not killed by CIA dictat.  He was killed by Cuban exiles trained and equipped by CIA to kill Castro using their knowledge to exact revenge for the Bay of Pigs debacle.  Furthermore, they left tracks as they prepared and JFK was warned the morning of the assassination by his own brother, and blew it off.  The cover-up, including the fact that Oswald tested negative for gunpowder residue, stemmed from Lyndon Johnson's fear of being exposed as an influence peddler if the investigation ranged beyond the fabricated story.  The Secret Service and others, angry over their own failure, went along.

There are other instances where US institutions have gone out of control.  The Joint Chiefs of Staff proposal to murder US citizens in Operation Northwoods in order to provide a pretext for attacking Cuba is included in Jim Bamford's A Pretext for War: 9/11, Iraq, and the Abuse of America’s Intelligence Agencies.

The assassination of Martin Luther King by a combination of FBI direction and US Army snipers on detail is credibly reported in An Act of State: The Execution of Martin Luther King, New and Updated Edition

There is no question in our own mind but that the US Government is “out of control” and that there has been a total loss of integrity and intelligence (as in thoughtful deciding) within both Congress and the White House.  We ascribe that first to wickedly irresponsible partisanship as epitomized by the Rohm Emanuel's of the world; and second to Barack Obama's legitimate fears of assassination if he separates himself from Goldman Sachs, the Zionist element in the U.S. Government, and the Mossad that is very capable of assassinating individuals such as Senator John Tower and others.  The power of the Israel lobby and the ruthlessness of the dual US-Israeli citizens now in positions of power across the U.S. Government cannot be over-stated.  If Barack Obama is assassinated, it will be by dictat from Israel and Goldman Sachs, not by CIA; it will be made to look like a Bin Laden operation; and craven apparatchiks will play it out that way instead of seeking the truth at any cost, which is the highest calling of any human.  The truth at any cost.

All of the above is informed speculation.  We have no access to classified or sensitive information.  Leon Panetta and Dennis Blair are good men trapped in a very bad system, and they are wasting the most precious opportunity ever to present itself, to create a Smart Nation, a Safe Nation, by restoring the role of the CIA as the source of truth for the President–AND everyone else.  We've tried to help them, they do not want to listen, and therefore they will fail the Republic and–with the best of intentions–betray the public interest.
