We're re-thinking the entire site, but for the time being this is as good as it gets.  USE THE MIDDLE COLUMN.  To see ONLY events, click on Events in the middle column.  Similarly to see only Journal click there, only reviews, click there.  WordPress is reverse chronological in nature, so you automatically get the most recent, but in doing searches, need to persist to the end for “root.”  Three interesting searches today, each addressed below the line.

Time Wheel Intelligence

“time intelligence” is a better search.  Below are two graphics and one list of books followed by some interesting items from the larger web.  We paraphrase Colin Gray, writing in Modern Strategy:  Time is the one strategic variable that can neither be bought nor replaced.  Time does matter, especially since changes to the Earth that used to take 10,000 years now take three–real-time science, and real-time peaceful preventive interventions, are now mandatory. Multinational perspectives also matter–the Spratley Islands, for example, have multiple time lines–one Chinese, one Vietnames, one Philippines, and one from the out-of-area Americans.  These competing timelines have to be understood in relation and also as absolutes grounded in the unique history of each stake-holder (hark forward to Bosnia and Kosovo).  If we were asked to list the three sucking chest-wounds in US intelligence, they would be: 1) don't do history; 2) don't do multinational; and 3) don't do honest cost forecasting.  It's time the Europeans got tougher on multinational analytics being the foundation for multinational operations and interventions across the spectrum (political-legal, military, socio-economic, ideo-cultural, techno-demographic, ideo-cultural).

Clean Sheet Analytics

Neither the North Americans nor the Europeans nor the Asians, Africans, or Latin Americans appear to have a Strategic Analytic Model or any kind of commitment to Reflexive Practice or Whole Systems Analytics or Knowledge as Design, Design for Knowledge.  This is why a clean sheet approach is needed, to both restructure past data stovepipes, and to open up to external data streams that are highly relevant but previously disrespected (indigenous knowledge,  for example).
