This op-ed was written by one of my closest friends, who happens to be an old fashioned Republican in the best sense of the term.

The big deficit facing the U.S. is mostly Republican in origin, the Congressional Budget Office says. The Bush tax cuts alone have added $3 trillion in red ink, yet the party wants to double down on its failed policy.

. . . . . . .

Polarization based on juvenile talk radio sloganeering is dragging this country to the cliff's edge. If neither the Democrats nor the party I have served for three decades is willing to act like adults, perhaps it's time for a party that is willing to step into the void.
Phi Beta Iota: Reading between the lines we can recognize that both the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) as well as the General Accountability Office (GAO) have been largely worthless despite generally top-notch endeavors–they are “ordered” to sacrifice intelligence and integrity in favor of ideology regardless of which party is in power.  What we have here is a government “system” of two parties that are inherently dishonest, lacking in intelligence, and without integrity.   There is nothing wrong with America that cannot be fixed, quickly, by restoring the integrity of the Electoral System, then of Intelligence, then on Governance, and finally of National Security.  Integrity.  One word.  Missing in Washington and across the feeble Republic.
