4.0 out of 5 stars Kum Ba Ya Reaches Its Peak,August 14, 2012

This book was recommended to me by Dr. Patrick Meier, perhaps the greatest English-language convergence point for crowd-sourcing in all languages, crisis mapping, and sustainable resilience, but I have found it to be a real disappointment–this book is kum-ba-ya at its peak, perhaps one reason why some of the reviewers, themselves deeply rooted in the kum-ba-ya mind-set, have raved about the book.

NEWS FLASH: No matter how long you hold hands and hum and agree to collaborate and have deliberative dialog and collective inspiration and all that, you will never, ever, make progress without first getting a grip on reality. This demands a conscious effort to discover, discriminate, distill, and disseminate FACTS along with OBSERVATIONS and OPINONS, all time stamped with geospatial attributes. Kum-Ba-Ya–much like the US Government–is completely divorced from reality, and especially how others see us and now corporations and banks externalize costs to the future.

Bob Seelert, Chairman of Saatchi & Saatchi Worldwide (New York): When things are not going well, until you get the truth out on the table, no matter how ugly, you are not in a position to deal with it.

Ben Gilad: Top managers' information is invariably either biased, subjecive, filtered or late. . . . Using intelligence correctly requires a fundamental change in the way top executives make decisions.

Yevgeny Yevtushenko: When truth is replaced by silence, the silence is a lie.

Alvin Toffler: Information is a substitute for time, space, capital, and labor

Albert Camus: A taste for truth at any cost is a passion which spares nothing.

Robert Steele: The truth at any cost reduces all other costs.

The authors mean well, but truth is not a factor in this book. Facts are not a factor in this book. The proven process of intelligence (decision-support) is not a factor in this book. At the very end I expect the Virgin Mary to appear, assuring a prosperous world at peace because we few (most, including some of the jacket blurb contributors, are hypocrites, serving the Empire without question) will it to be so. Until the public can detect and bury lies such as are now told by the two-party tyranny (e.g. the unemployment rate in the USA is 22.4%, anyone who does not know that, or worse, knows it and pretends, is part of the problem).

Better books than this one:
The Tao of Democracy: Using co-intelligence to create a world that works for all
Escaping the Matrix: How We the People can change the world
Conscious Evolution: Awakening Our Social Potential
Integral Consciousness and the Future of Evolution
Society's Breakthrough!: Releasing Essential Wisdom and Virtue in All the People

Here are the memes that are not in the book that would make the ambition of this book a reality. All are easily found online by searching for the phrase and of course I have published extensively in this area.

Better shock absorbers is a good metaphor. They need to be built of the best refined materials (i.e. based on a foundation of shared information) and not be, as is the case now, a fraudulent theater of the absurd. Take US Public Diplomacy as an example. Corrupt to the bone. Fact free and proud of it.
