Keene to Newsmax: Obama Presidency ‘At Risk' If He Acts Alone on Gun Ban

National Rifle Association President David Keene tells Newsmax that President Obama could be violating the Constitution if he circumvents Congress and imposes gun control by executive order — and his presidency will be “at risk” if he proceeds.

Keene also says gun control advocates will ultimately fail in their efforts to ban assault weapons, despite Obama’s “rabid advisers” who will push the ban.

And he asserts that the administration is asking the “wrong questions” in the wake of the Newtown, Conn., shootings and is instead seeking to politicize the tragedy.

Phi Beta Iota:  NewsMax is a “rabid right” source, but their interview clearly suggests that impeachment by the House (will never go anywhere in the Senate) has been discussed.  Keene and his advisors have not yet matured to the point that they can actually put out a sophisticated narrative about Aurora and Sandy Hook that holds the government accountable for failing to investigate expose rogue elements that actually orchestrated the two mass murders.  The NRA is well-situated to raise a citizen counterintelligence corps that can sent in Flying Squads to smother a mass murder scene with alternative recordings, clear identification of every national security person attempting to sabotage, repress, or otherwise misdirect the nvestigation, and so on, but NRA is using “old think” and shows no signs of getting any smarter in the near term.  The assault weapons ban is a distractor — the real atrocity is the US Government presuming to “qualify” citizens for gun ownership — there are NO qualifications in the Constitution other than citizenship.  Every citizen — including felons who have served their time and anyone taking a medically-authorized prescription of any sort — must be presumed competent absent a lawful finding to the contrary.
