My friend and colleague Andrew Cockburn has a new book out.  Kill Chain: The Rise of the High-Tech Assassins is more than the title, which I don't like, implies.  Much more than just the next anti-drone book, Andrew performs brain surgery on the misguided notion that “critical nodes” in an enemy's infrastructure can be 1) identified and 2) systemically and precisely attacked to destroy the enemy's will and ability to wage war.

While it defies conventional wisdom, Andrew describes an approach to warfare that prolonged World War Two, failed utterly and completely in both the Korea and Vietnam Wars and has now emerged in its–so far–penultimate formulation in Barack Obama's fixation to attempt–and fail miserably–to defeat (or even degrade) Muslim terrorism and extremism by assassinating leaders and followers, and–of course–innocents. Andrew will give a talk on his new book at the Politics and Prose Bookstore in Bethesda on Tuesday March 10 at 7:00 PM.  It is sure to be both provocative and insightful. The address of the bookstore is 5015 Connecticut Ave NW.  I'll hope to see you there. Find further details on the talk and its location here.

Phi Beta Iota: The Obama-Biden foreign policy, as with the Bush-Cheney foreign policy, is corrupt and retarded. It is driven by religious treason (the Zionists and Saudi Arabia manipulating the US Congress), ideological treason (the neo-cons having strong support from the 42 billionaires that “own” the US Government) and financial treason (the revolving door that rewards those who spend wantonly on useless technology instead of witting humans). What is done in our name and at our expense every day is treason — a crime against humanity abroad and a betrayal of the public trust at home. Until we stop embracing the 42 of 44 dictators that abuse their own publics and sow the seeds of revolution daily, and until we recognize that peace for the many is more profitable than war for the few, we will continue to be scourge on the Earth — an observation for which Martin Luther King was assassinated.
