Just as non-carbon innovation is pushing carbon energy out of the picture, so new forms of agriculture, such as those described in this article, are going to change agriculture. A significant segment of society now understands that locally grown organic produce is the most life-affirming option. Note also the list of unanticipated benefits to these systems.

Farming in the Sky

Why agriculture may someday take place in towers, not fields

ROBERT STEELE: This is a superb article — I was in Singapore in 1970 when hydroponics was just starting to be understood there. There are however two aspects to the article I would like to point out for further study. 01 50% of all food grown today is wasted. If we can eliminate that waste, we do not need more land. 02 GMOs and pesticides are the curse of agriculture, along with animal husbandry that consumes water and produces feces and methane. A shift to aquaculture, which is consistent with the article's thrust, will radically reduce the harm that big agriculture imposes on the world today. Super read, thank you.
