Phi Beta Iota: The United STATES of America created the federal government as a service of common concern, not as an Empire unto itself. The time has come for a Constitutional Convention and an end to federal predation on the States and the Citizens. In particular, after cutting the size of the federal government by at least half, and demanding a balanced budget, the States should reverse the amendments that violate the intended state rights — Senators to be appointed by the States, only States may collect taxes from their citizens, the federal government will operate on a balanced budget funded by the States. All States should re-assert their right to nullify federal regulations and secede from the Union of STATES, at their pleasure.  Oregon is a sign that we are in a revolutionary state — the federal government is out of control (as are many state governments).
