Trump seeks to slash $6 billion from gov’t medical research: why not more?

The US National Institutes of Health (NIH), a federal agency, is the largest medical research institution in the world. Its 2010 budget was $30 billion. It employs 20,000 people. Trump wants to cut $6 billion from its budget.

Here’s what you need to know: no one has ever done a comprehensive investigation of the results of NIH’s research over the years. No one has done a proper assessment of its value.

Phi Beta Iota: NIH, along with the FDA and CDC and quasi-criminal networks that do nothing of real value to the public — they all serve the special interests. The President could easily cut more from NIH, at the same time that he empowered those seeking to educate the public about alternative and natural cures.  At some point he is going to have to start holding the private sector accountable for “true costs” of all toxic products. No one in government does holistic analytics and true cost accounting.
