Establishing an AI code of ethics will be harder than people think

Indeed, technology often highlights peoples' differing ethical standards—whether it is censoring hate speech or using risk assessment tools to improve public safety.

Establishing ethical standards also doesn’t necessarily change behavior.

ROBERT STEELE:  I wrote the original warning letter to the White House in 1994; I tried to shift the US secret intelligence community from an ethics of impunity to an ethics of open source and decision-support; and I coined the phrase “ethics is an operating system.” We are all in grave danger.  AI is a weapons system, and electromagnetic pollution as well as directed energy (e.g. 5G and geoengineering and mind control all under one command) is going to radically and negatively impact on humanity in the next ten years. Ethics is not hard to “do” it is just hard to “embrace.” I given all of this a great deal of thought over the years and hope that one day I will have a chance to guide a new approach to computational and informational ethics. What we have now is idiocy married to impunity.
