Where will the ‘water wars' of the future be fought?

A new paper paints a disturbing picture of a nearby future where people are fighting over access to water. These post-apocalyptic-sounding “water wars” could rise as a result of climate change and population growth and could become real soon enough if we don't take steps to prevent them.

The study, which comes from the European Commission's Joint Research Centre (JRC), says that the effects of climate change will be combined with an ever-increasing number of people to trigger intense competition for increasingly scarce resources. This can lead to regional instability and social unrest.

Bayer Needs More Than an Aspirin to Cure Its Monsanto-Sized Headache

PBI: Bayer's German CEO is delusional and should be fired soon.  Monsanto is dead.  Although judge reduced award to $70M or so, there are thousands more lawsuits that will be won against Monsanto.

PBI: This is a variation of the tobacco campaign that took decades. It will not be over anytime soon.  It is also a classic illustration of what happens when companies are allowed to ignore true cost economics (because government, academia, and media were corrupt and bribed to not do true cost economics), thus externalizing unrecoverable costs to future generations — costs that include the loss of diversity and human health from pollution and climate change.

Russia ‘tries to woo white South African farmers to live there in the hope they will boost the country's agricultural industry amid land seizures in their homeland'

According to The Daily Star Vladimir Poluboyarenko, a government liaison from the Stavropol region in southern Russia, said: ‘I want them to know that Russia can be their mother country, too.'

The Russian Government have also removed the tourist visa requirements for South Africans enabling them buy potential homes.
