What’s Right with America? Let Me List the Books

I became the #1 Amazon reviewer for non-fiction [or 32/216 overall including movies, software, and fiction) quite by accident, loading 300 reviews from my first two books' annotated bibliographies, and then getting “hooked” on reviewing as well as reading my normal intake of roughly 100-200 books a year. I just donated my personal library to George Mason University (GMU), and was quite pleased that it took three specialist librarians to evaluate and accept the 2,500 books or so in the collection, ranging across the 98 categories in which I read.
The lists below were created in the last six years, and I have to single out Tom Atlee, co-founder of the Co-Intelligence Institute and author of both The Tao of Democracy-Using Co-Intelligence to Create a World That Works for All (Writer's Collective, 2003) and of Reflections on Evolutionary Activism (CreateSpace, 2009), as my mentor and guide. I found him in 2003 through his book on Amazon, he spoke at my conference in 2004, and my path of understanding the enormous goodness that we are all capable of has been lit by his carrying of the torch ever since.
This list, as with my earlier posted list on books about what is wrong with America, was done in preparation for the final part of INTELLIGENCE FOR EARTH: Clarity, Diversity, Integrity, & Sustainability (EIN, 2010), itself a companion and sequel to a book Tom inspired and contributed to along with 54 others including me, COLLECTIVE INTELLIGENCE: Creating a Prosperous World at Peace (EIN, 2008).
In contrast to the 98 Review categories where books are cross-listed and appear in multiple categories, in this set of “good news” reviews, each book appears only once. To see my most recent book reviews not on any of these lists, use Phi Beta Iota/Reviews.
The good news, and one graphic, up front: Rule by Secrecy and concentration of wealth are OVER. There are not enough guns on the planet to keep our collective intelligence repressed–the Internet and cell phones have made possible the creation of a World Brain and Global Brain [seeking $15M]–and Barry Carter, Yochai Benckler, Thomas Stewart, Alvin Toffler, and Clay Sharkey have it right–we can create infinite stabilizing wealth with our cognitive surplus, and in passing eradicate the corruption that has destroyed the Earth.
The BAD NEWS, and this is why the World Brain and Global Game are so important, is that the Earth is a closed system where changes that used to take 10,000 years now take three–“real-time science” is a necessity–AND the only thing the West has to contribute to the future IS the enabling of the World Brain and Global Game. Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, Venezuela, and Wild Cards such as the Congo, South Africa, and Turkey, are going to “own” the future. HOW they own it might be constructively assisted by what we do with our collective intelligence between now and 2012, and from 2012 to 2020.
Below is my vision for how we can dump the US Congress, help others dump their corrupt legislators, and move forward with INTEGRITY, the only word that really matters.
At the end of this list I present the Earth Intelligence Network's vision for how to actually create a World Brain and Global Game. Amazon blew us off in 2007–read the brief and watch the movie— we did not take that personally, and welcome overtures from others. We are committed to creating public intelligence in the public interest.

We are One. We can create Heaven on Earth in the Paul Goodman sense of Communitas and the Kirkpatrick Sale sense of Human Scale. I am certain that a public commitment to the truth at any cost because it lowers all other costs, will see us through this dark time. The two-party tyranny has got to go. Informed deliberative dialog such as Tom and I discussed in my earlier posting, Primer for Citizen Intelligence, must be the core element of the Second American Republic–and then rapidly extended to retire the 44 dictators, 42 of whom are “best pals” of the US Government acting in our name, at our expense, without our moral authority.
E Veritate Potens. From the Truth, We the People Are Made Powerful.
