Phi Beta Iota: The question has been asked: do we buy and open up ESRI to capture its 40% marketshare, or do we bypass ESRI and merge CrisisMapper, OpenStreetMap, Geofeedia, and a few other pieces with a new markup language that goes beyond Keyhole Markup Language (which only does geospatial attributres) so we can get to a sparse matrix able to hold all data in all languages and mediums, all the time — amenable to distributed secure processing in near-real-time? Social media is largely worthless, but location-based data fusion in near-real-time is priceless.
