Phi Beta Iota: GDPR stands for General Data Protection Regulation and is a European Union initiative that may be considered by others for adoption. It is a good idea in general, but too many are failing to see that no degree of regulation is going to fix the dysfunctional predatory Internet 2.0 that relies on advertising for revenue, which is what drives click bait and mass surveillance. The self-sovereign identity concept is seeing a break-out year but is not yet platform independent and has not made the leap to understanding that data integrity — including no more book banning by Amazon and no more search results that prioritize advertisers — is the companion initiative.
