Who’s Who in Earth Intelligence: Curtis Faith

Over the last few years I’ve become interested in physics through a circuitous route. First, like John Baez who started the Azimuth Project, I realized four or five years back that we’re headed to an ugly place on the climate and energy front if we don’t make some changes.

So I wanted to do something. It seemed obvious to me that energy was the real problem. Electric cars are nice but only go so far if we still rely on coal to generate the electricity. I am interested in alternative types of fusion power (like I.E.C. fusion) and the associated problems in theoretical physics, especially nuclear binding energy theory. I am also interested in quantum gravity theory. I hope to contribute in some concrete way in the future. As I continue to learn enough to eventually become expert in physics, I want to work on some more tangible tasks that can help make the world a better place.

My views are influenced by Ron Hubbard of “Scientology” fame, by Silvio Gesell's “Natural Economic Order”, by Viktor Schauberger, the “Water Wizard” of early 20th century Austria and by “Spaceship Earth” Buckminster Fuller, the gentle giant and prolific discoverer of synergy and tensegrity. I acknowledge a deep debt of gratitude to all of these great thinkers.

It is my belief that mankind must get ready for its transit into a new space age. We are not alone in this universe, but before we can become part of what I call ‘the galactic community of sentient beings', we must put barbarism behind us and show that we can take care of ourselves and our planet. To start agitating for change, I have identified certain areas that need change. They are described in an article on Health Supreme: “Genova, the Azores and our Common Future”.

The best way to achieve change is of course communication. So, in order to figure out where we should be directing our energies for that coming transition, I have joined a group of Communication Agents working through a number of websites supported by my friend Robin Good.

Rolf Sattler, Ph.D., D.Sc. (h.c.), F.L.S., F.R.S.C., (born March 8, 1936) is a Canadian plant morphologist, biologist, philosopher, and educator. He is considered one of the most significant contributors to the field of plant morphology. His contributions are not only empirical but involved also a revision of the most fundamental concepts, theories, and philosophical assumptions.

The major focus of his philosophical contributions to plant morphology and our understanding of reality has been on process philosophy, integral philosophy, holism, contextualism, perspectivism, and complementarity. Besides hierarchy (holarchy) he underlines the importance of complementary perspectives such as dialectics, holism as undivided wholeness, Yin-Yang, continuum and network views. Besides Aristotelian either/or logic, he emphasizes the importance of fuzzy logic. He explores how either/or logic can lead to conflict and even war, whereas fuzzy logic and Yin-Yang thinking can be healing because they connect what either/or logic has torn apart.Finally, he also emphasizes that beyond all perspectives is the unnamable, the source, emptiness (in the Buddhist sense), mystery, which is of ultimate importance for healing and total Being.

John Bunzl is the Founder, Trustee and Coordinator of the International Simultaneous Policy Organisation (ISPO). John initiated the Simpol concept in 1998 and since founded the ISPO to campaign for the adoption of Simpol around the world. He is author of The Simultaneous Policy – An Insider's Guide to Saving Humanity and the Planet, has given lectures and workshops on Simpol to many conferences, including to the World Trade Organisation, the World Social Forum and the Schumacher Society. Apart from being an activist, he is also a company director of a business specialising in raw materials and speciality papers. He was born in 1957 in London.

Dr. James (“Jim”) C. Spohrer

Director of IBM University Programs (IBM UP) since 2009, Jim founded IBM's first Service Research group in 2003 at the Almaden Research Center with a focus on STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) for Service Sector innovations. He led this group to attain ten times return on investment with four IBM outstanding and eleven accomplishment awards over seven years. Working with service research pioneers from many academic disciplines, Jim advocates for Service Science, Management, Engineering, and Design (SSMED) as an integrative extended-STEM framework for global competency development, economic growth, and advancement of science. In 2000, Jim became the founding CTO of IBM’s first Venture Capital Relations group in Silicon Valley. In the mid 1990’s, he lead Apple Computer’s Learning Technologies group, where he was awarded DEST (Distinguished Engineer Scientist and Technologist) Jim received a Ph.D. in Computer Science/Artificial Intelligence from Yale University and a B.S. in Physics from MIT.
