UPDATE: Obama won — “nine ways” was not enough to repress the Hispanic vote, 71% for Obama.

Rove’s final Electoral College prediction:
“Without twelve toss up states (MN, NV, CO, IA, WI, MI, OH, PA, NH, VA, NC, AND FL), Mitt Romney and Barack Obama are tied at 191 each.
“I predict Mr. Romney will win FL (29), NC (15), VA (13), NH (4), OH (18), IA (6), CO (9) and Mr. Obama will get MN (10), NV (6), WI (10), MI (16), PA (20).
“This brings Mr. Romney to 285 Electoral College votes and Mr. Obama to 253.
Phi Beta Iota: This is very credible because Karl Rove and friends, along with the Republican Governors in the swing states, have had four years to plan, fund, and execute what Greg Palast calls the “nine ways.” This only works smoothly if the incumbent is tired, his wife is sick of it all, and enough money (gold certificates work well) has been put on the table to assure a credible concession speech from Chicago “to avoid further divisiveness.” In other words, this is a brilliant, order of magnitude execution of Florida, but this time across all of the states, with the swing states led by Republican Governors being the margin of victory. Obama not only failed to fulfill his promises, he also appointed a cadre of advisers from David Plouffe to Rahm Emanuel to Tim Geithner sufficient to sicken the Independents and moderates, Obama-Biden being in effect a third Dick Cheney. He lost his young and new 2008 base for this one. That still would not have been enough, but Benghazi and the post-photo op evaluation of the destruction and displacement related to Hurricane Sandy and complete lack of pre-positioning of generators and gasoline, water, tents and oil stoves, COMBINED WITH a remarkable make over by Mitt Romney and his wife, have flipped the tortilla. The Republicans are now the lesser of two evils in the eyes of a sufficiency of the middle. Obama’s arrogance and inattentiveness (“it’s the economy, stupid”) have sealed the deal — he ran this race as if he intended to lose in the fourth round, making his fall as credible as possible. The fix is in.
This could be very good for the Department of Defense, but ONLY if the new President gets a grip on the Automated Payment Transaction Tax from day one (eliminating ALL other taxes while tripling disposable federal income); and the new Secretary of Defense is willing to cut the flags and senior civilians in half, churn the base, reset Title 10 to empower theater commanders as a joint requirements board, and connect to ethical evidence-based priorities, policy, acquisition, and Whole of Government PPBS/E. There are four threat classes, we need four forces after next with integrated information operations, and no one now serving in DoD gets that to the depth and breadth required to create a 450-ship Navy, a long-haul Air Force, and an air-deliverable Army.
