While issuing scary revelations about the alleged ‘Kremlin Troll Army’ operating online, ‘perpetuating a pro-Kremlin dialogue’, the US government’s international broadcaster RFE/RL somehow forgot to disclose it is prepared to spend as much as $15.4 million of taxpayers’ money on its own digital media forces to battle phantom Russia in the media
Phi Beta Iota: This is pathetic at multiple levels. First, the US has no strategy and no coherent policies favoring the public interest as opposed to special interests. Everything about the US confrontation with Russia is both contrived and corrupt in its conceptualization and actualization. Second, the US is incompetent at everything cyber — code, security, substance — all near-moronic. Third, the Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG) is in the Stone Age when it comes to social media — asking them to manage trolls favoring bad US policy across social media BBG does not understand is a prescription for several contracts that will be as bad as the US Army’s Human Terrain Teams (HTT).
