Phi Beta Iota: CRS is one of the gems. Cut back from 900 to 600 — an utter outrage — it continues to produce information that is more useful than the much larger and grotesquely expensive US secret intelligence world. Think about that for a minute: 600 people working almost exclusively with open sources, versus millions at a cost of over $60B (not counting the black side) providing “at best” 4% of what the President or a major commander needs. The next President needs a total review of all education, intelligence, and research dollars and manning — they need to be managed as a whole.
