From the beginning. Last month, a group of 35 designers, engineers, and entrepreneurs from all over the world gathered in Oakland, California. Together, we are working on the creation of tools, strategies, and networks to build a new collaborative commons.

ROBERT STEELE: This strikes me as a potential game changer that could — if the stars align — eventually displace Facebook, Google, and Microsoft — despite their considerable accomplishments — because they all refused to listen to repeated demands for information-sharing and sense-making tools that were affordable, inter-operable, and scalable. This might just be the cloud-based network that becomes the World Brain.
