How Corruption Cripples America's Military
America’s military budget is roughly 7.2 times that of Russia ($610 billion compared to $84.5 billion), but even Western news-accounts are saying that the weaponry produced in Russia is superior overall to the weaponry produced in the United States.
ROBERT STEELE: This is a very powerful factual article. I totally agree. Indeed, I find it very upsetting when the corruption outlined in this article is considered in the context of the US military budget consuming 60% of the US disposable budget and 16% of the total budget in FY 2015. It is further upsetting to know that only 1% of the budget goes to the infantry, the 4% of the force that takes 80% of the casualties. It is even more upsetting to hear presidential candidates — including John Kasich who knows better — speaking of the need to give even more money to the Pentagon — that is like pouring gasoline on a fire. I know how to cut the Pentagon budget by a third while creating a home-based 450 ship Navy, a long haul Air Force, and an air mobile Army — AND we can transfer $150B a year to diplomacy and development. All it takes is one word in practice: INTEGRITY.
