Trump’s Pentagon wants to spend almost $500 million on Guantánamo construction
Phi Beta Iota: Criminal insanity is alive and well under the leadership of Secretary of Defense James Mattis. The Pentagon consumes 60% of our disposable budget, is 50% waste, and cannot win wars. Say what?

ROBERT STEELE: I am acutely aware of the claims that this money is to prepare for the possibility of Deep State prisoners — 13,000 of them. If that is even remotely true, it is also criminally insane. Guantanamo needs to be turned over to Cuba as soon as possible and the promise to close Guantanamo honored. If indeed we are to have 13,000 Deep State prisoners, they need to be put somewhere such as Fort Leavenworth, and be accessible and visible within the USA. Spending a half billion dollars on Guantanamo is a bad decision that is out of touch with reality and the future.
