Right-Sizing the US Military–Doug Macgregor sparked some discussion out this way. Combined with New Army Chief of Staff: Out of Touch? NEW: Blistering Bullshit Flag Waved from Afghanistan and so many other related posts at Phi Beta Iota, here are some “inconsistencies” that are obvious to all of us on this side of the world.
From East-Asia Intel.com:
Clapper said during a hearing March 10, when asked which state has the intent to be the greatest U.S. adversary: “Probably China.” … “If the question is pick one nation state,” he said, adding that both Russia and China potentially pose a mortal threat to the United States.
Meanwhile……
The commander of U.S. forces in the Pacific said last week that he did not agree with the Director of National Intelligence James Clapper that China poses the most serious national security threat to the United States.
And finally,
Admiral Mike Mullen, chairman of the U.S. military's Joint Chiefs of Staff, accused Pakistan's intelligence agency of a having a longstanding relationship with Haqqani militants targeting U.S. forces in Afghanistan.
Having this as a foundation, the US is now in the midst of providing Pakistan with the following items:
Tactical Communications Group (TCG)received its fourth consecutive order from the US Air Forces' Electronic Systems Center (ESC) for a Ground Support System (GSS) for use by the Pakistan Air Force (PAF). TCG's GSS solution for the (PAF) will provide their pilots a commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) capability to support Link 16 simulation training and operations situational awareness on Pakistani F-16 aircraft.
The United States will provide Pakistan with 85 small “Raven” drone aircraft, a U.S. military official told Reuters, a key step to addressing Islamabad's calls for access to U.S. drone technology.
So, if China is a major threat (at least to some level) why are we supplying a major Chinese acquisitions pipeline (Pakistan) with technologies that will flow directly to China (where reverse engineering is an art) and nobody has raised an eyebrow?
And to top it all, Pakistan is expected to receive roughly $3 billion in U.S. military aid in the upcoming fiscal year.
This suggests that some of this money from the US is supporting the Taliban (what's a few million sliced off of $3 Billion?)
From here, lunacy appears to be the preferred operating mode in Washington….
Phi Beta Iota: The ten high-level threats to humanity have been identified and prioritized by the United Nations High-Level Panel where LtGen Dr. Brent Scowcroft, USAF (Ret) was the US member. The US at this time appears to be lacking intelligence, integrity, and strategy–it is operating on ideology, borrowed money, an out of control acquisition system, and as best we can tell, without regard to what might actually be in the best interests of the US citizen taxpayers.
