The US Congress could start an investigation into leaked emails which suggest climate change statistics have been consistently manipulated to make the case for anthropogenic global warming more credible.
The emails leaked from the Climatic Research Unit at the University of East Anglia in the UK – which claims to be the repository for the most comprehensive set of climate data on the planet – contain what many observers see as clear evidence that scientists have been altering that data to fit in with their man-made global warming beliefs.
Phi Beta Iota: Congress, like most Commissions including the 9-11 Commission, is not capable of investigating anything even if the desire is there. Despite having the Congressional Budget Office (CBO), the Congressional Research Service (CRS), and the General Accountability Office (GAO), Congress does not have a decision-support (intelligence) model for defining the requirement, overseeing the collection management, processing massive amounts of data at machine speed in multiple languages, and then making sense of it all in public. The time has come to re-define “national intelligence” by using Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) that is arrived at using M4IS2 (Multinational, Multiagency, Multidisciplinary, Multidomain Information-Sharing and Sense-Making. Creating a capability that can support Congress while educating the public and being responsive to ALL Executive leaders and action officers, but especially those in the defense world, is a starting point.
