This is a crap book that I should have been smart enough to not buy but I overlooked the author's dubious credentials as a New York Times editor — the “pay to play” standard in the fake news Mainstream Media (MSM).
There is nothing really useful in this book, which paints a generally rosy picture of the New York Time and Washington Post “adapting” (they have not, they are both shit newspapers that cannot be trusted to tell the truth, both are shills for the Deep State and their propaganda line controlled by bribed or blackmailed editors and tame journalists) and a largely unsatisfactory look at VICE and BuzzFeed, both of which shit for different reasons.
This book completely misses the First Amendment and Title 7 issues associated with #GoogleGestapo censorship, data manipulation, and digital assassination, as well as the legally actionable issues of misrepresenting the truth, e.g. with respect to the “Russians hacked the election” canard.
AFTER I wrote the above, it came out that the author outsourced much of the research for this book, and has been found guilty of plagarism, not only with respect to this book, but previously in other works.
CIA's motto is “ye shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free,” a fine Biblical quotation that CIA violates every day (CIA is not in the business of stealing the truth, it is in the business of selling lies) — this author — and the newspaper she represents is as far from the truth as one can get. In a properly run enterprise, she would be fired, but we can all be quite certain that this book passed pre-publication muster within the New York Times and they like its lies and its plagarism because that is their culture today.
Below are a few reviews I have done on books that are vastly superior to this one.
Review: Fog Facts –Searching for Truth in the Land of Spin (Nation Books) (Hardcover)
Review: Forbidden Knowledge–From Prometheus to Pornography
Review: Lost History–Contras, Cocaine, the Press & ‘Project Truth’
Review: Manufacturing Consent–The Political Economy of the Mass Media
Review (Guest): Propaganda–The Formation of Men’s Attitudes
Review: The Age of Missing Information
Review: Weapons of Mass Deception–The Uses of Propaganda in Bush’s War on Iraq
Review: Weapons of Mass Instruction
My summary of the above books is here:
Robert Steele: Itemization of Information Pathologies
My concept for how to achieve truth to create a prosperous world at peace is here:
Robert Steele: Healing the Self & Healing the World – The Open Source Way (Trump Revolution 14)
Amazon Kindle: Healing the Self & Healing the World – The Open Source Way (Trump Revolution Book 14)
And here is a think piece on principled intelligence — not a concept understood by the New York Times, the US secret community, or the #GoogleGestapo ecology that we must displace with an Open Source Agency.
