With a few clicks, I learned that about 500 advertisers — many that I had never heard of, like Bad Dad, a motorcycle parts store, and Space Jesus, an electronica band — had my contact information, which could include my email address, phone number and full name. Facebook also had my entire phone book, including the number to ring my apartment buzzer.
PhiBetaIota: Brian X. Chen has done a really excellent job on this one aspect of #GoogleGestapo. We hope he will delve more into all of the ways each element of #GoogleGestapo — from Amazon banning books to Facebook violating privacy to Google manipulating searches to MeetUp censoring alt-right and alt-left voices to Twitter censoring and digitally assassinating alt-right (Roger Stone) and alt-left (Charlie Peach) voices to YouTube “purging” thousands of channels many ex post facto — for three-year-old items that have been approved by YouTube for those three years — to Wikipedia manipulating history and facts to suit its masters — violates the US Constitution as well as Title 7 (anti-discrimination).
