ROBERT STEELE: I am glad to see Jim Fallows finally publish something close to his original book-length Blank Check indictment of the Pentagon, for which I am told he paid a very heavy price at the hands of the military-industrial complex. There is more The Atlantic could do, to include acceptance of my indictments of the failed intelligence community that does not provide useful decision support for strategy, policy, acquisition, or operations — in General Tony Zinni's terms, 4% “at best” of what he needed to know. The government — and every part of the safety net of checks and balances from Congress to the media to universities to labor unions to churches — is broken — disengaged. If The Atlantic wants to stage a real break-out, and impact on the national dialog in 2015, they could start with a cover story on why the Electoral Reform Act of 2015 is the one non-violent non-negotiable step needed to restore integrity to our government and hence to our economy and our society. I know how to make this happen, and every presidential candidate I have approached about it is studiously — selfishly — silent. This includes Jim Webb particularly.
