It is the intention of the Republican Party to see that America's heritage of national forests be sold for a pittance, or just given away to a small group of corporations. This is so shameful I am amazed that that is not the lead story of the news cycle. But the corporate media doesn't really seem to think the issue is of much importance, so it doesn't get much coverage.
CONGRESS PASSES MEASURE TO ALLOW SELLING OFF NATIONAL FORESTS AND OTHER PUBLIC LANDS
Phi Beta Iota: The time has come to end federal “ownership” of anything and particular lands and buildings within state boundaries. The amount of land vulnerable to this Republican plan for looting the commonwealth is obscene (see below). States should immediately come together and begin the process of freezing all land and ending federal control of and unconstitutionally claimed right to exploit and sell land that is within state boundaries. A major aspect of this anti-public endeavor has to do with water — under the Republican plan, ground water would be subject to unencumbered theft.
