ClimateGate is, in the words of one scientist, a mushroom cloud rather than a smoking gun. We agree.
Queen of England has been had. She has been made a fool of in Trinidad & Tobago.
Breaking news from the splendid Bishop Hill. It seems the AGW establishment has launched an urgent damage limitation exercise in order to whitewash the Climategate scandal in time for Copenhagen.
“This event might signal a crack that allows for processes of re-structuring scientific knowledge about climate change. It is possible that some areas of climate science has become sclerotic. It is possible that climate science has become too partisan, too centralized. The tribalism that some of the leaked emails display is something more usually associated with social organization within primitive cultures; it is not attractive when we find it at work inside science.”
Holdren has already come under fire for his radical views on population control. In the past Holdren has advocated many extreme measures, including forced abortions and introducing chemicals into the water supply that would cause sterilization to prevent overpopulation. Holdren is also a global warming activist who dismisses scepticism.
After more than a week of analysis by some of the greatest minds in science, I believe we have come to a point where most, who are not so blinded by ideology that they can’t reason, have accepted that there was a concerted effort to exaggerate the warming that stopped in 2002. This was accomplished through manipulation of data, re-defining the scientific peer-review process, manipulating scientific journals, deprecation of anyone with the temerity to disagree or question, and failing to express the true uncertainty in their conclusions, instead calling it a “scientific consensus”. That is climategate in a nutshell.
