Hats off to Jeannie Suk Gersen of The New Yorker for a really fine article that makes the point that George Will is absolutely right in The Conservative Sensibility — the Executive has run amok (including stop light cameras at the local level where you are fined for not coming to a full stop even if there are no other cars visible); Congress has abdicated its responsibilities, and the judiciary is complacent and too deferential (as are the citizens) to unconstitutional Executive power abuses.
The California Family Council reports that Assembly Concurrent Resolution 99 (ACR 99) calls on “counselors, pastors, religious workers, educators” and institutions with “great moral influence” to stop perpetuating the idea that something is wrong with LGBT identities or sexual behavior. ACR 99 also condemns attempts to change unwanted same-sex attraction or gender confusion as “unethical,” “harmful,” and leading to high rates of suicide.
While media generally directs its attention to the alt-right movement, Tenold analyses those groups that are active in the streets, through rallies and other actions, such as the Traditionalist Workers Party (TWP), the Ku Klux Klan (KKK), the National Socialist Movement (NSM), the Hammerskins, and Aryan Nations. He followed this scene closely from 2011 until the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville in August 2017, when James Alex Fields Jr. drove his car into a crowd of counter-demonstrators, killing one and injuring 28.

Instead of creating a survival-of-the-fittest, dog-eat-dog society, we can create a civilization that fosters cooperation and altruism. If someone has the entrepreneurial skill of making a lot of money, that skill and motivation could be redirected and channeled into making the local community and the world a better place. In a materialistic culture, the more we give, the less we have; it is a win-lose relationship. However, in an altruistic culture, the more we give the more we have; it is a win-win relationship. Children learn what they live. We can teach different values to our children.
