Algae Oil Poised For World Domination, Eventually
Don’t be surprised if you wake up one day to find that the petroleum economy has been nudged aside by a startling diversity of alternative fuels topped by algae oil. The geopolitical implications alone are staggering given that various forms of algae can be cultivated practically anywhere in the world, but for now let’s focus on a partnership between the Israeli company TransBiodiesel and an American company called Heliae, which is based in our favorite algae biofuel state of the future, Arizona.

There is increasing good news about non-carbon energy. This transition must be thought of in planetary terms, because one country's advances impact the world total. As this report describes Scandinavia There is also much going on in the U.K. and Germany. The Chinese embracement of alternatives particularly will have a planetary impact. It is not clear what the U.S. will do, except to note that the Republican Congress has committed itself to the continuation of carbon.

NSA Releases First in Series of Software Products to Open Source Community
New technology automates high-volume data flows
The National Security Agency announced today the public release of its new technology that automates data flows among multiple computer networks, even when data formats and protocols differ. The tool, called “Niagarafiles (Nifi),” could benefit the U.S. private sector in various ways. For example, commercial enterprises could use it to quickly control, manage, and analyze the flow of information from geographically dispersed sites – creating comprehensive situational awareness.
