schwartzreport newNot a word of this in the American corporate press, but I take this as further evidence of our declining status in Latin America as a result of the U.S.'s bullying behavior. The craziness and paranoia ginned up in this country after 911 looks, to people outside of it, like a kind of national madness.

Bolivian President to Sue US Govt for Crimes Against Humanity

RT (Russia)

Bolivian President Evo Morales will file a lawsuit against the US government for crimes against humanity. He has decried the US for its intimidation tactics and fear-mongering after the Venezuelan presidential jet was blocked from entering US airspace.

‘I would like to announce that we are preparing a lawsuit against Barack Obama to condemn him for crimes against humanity,” said President Morales at a press conference in the Bolivian city of Santa Cruz. He branded the US president as a ‘criminal” who violates international law.

But one trend does emerge. The vast majority of local peacebuilders are working with young people as a key part of their programme. The entrants we spoke with all emphasise the key role they see young people playing in building peace. Again and again, they talk about working with young people to counter propaganda and prejudice, and creating opportunities for young people to prevent them from being drawn into violent groups.

Workshop report explores use of mass collaboration in disaster management

The growing use of social media and other mass collaboration technologies is opening up new opportunities in disaster management efforts, but is also creating new challenges for policymakers looking to incorporate these tools into existing frameworks, according to a new report from the Commons Lab at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars.

The Commons Lab, part of the Wilson Center’s Science & Technology Innovation Program, hosted a September 2012 workshop bringing together emergency responders, crisis mappers, researchers, and software programmers to discuss issues surrounding the adoption of these new technologies.

The Commons Lab is pleased to announce the release of “Connecting Grassroots to Government for Disaster Management: Workshop Summary,” a report discussing the key findings, policy suggestions, and success stories that emerged during the workshop. The report’s release coincides with the tenth annual Disaster Preparedness Month, sponsored by the Federal Emergency Management Agency in the Department of Homeland Security to help educate the public about preparing for emergencies.

The workshop charted new territory for the field by prioritizing academic and applied research opportunities and challenges. The report points to best practices, useful tools, and practical approaches for integrating crowdsourced data with more traditional data sources.

Robin Good: Curate Favorite Web Destinations Visually with Wibki

Wibki is a free web app which allows you to easily organize a series of visual “start pages” from which to access your favorite web sites, resources and apps. Wibki does an excellent job of making it very easy to add and edit new sites to your visual start pages, and it automatically fetches the logo of each one. You can create as many “start pages” (or tabs) as you like, so that you can keep your favorite web sites organized into different thematic categories. Individual cells can be easily edited, removed or dragged nto different positions.

My comments: An excellent tool to keep and organize in a handy way your favorite web sites. The web site icons and the simple and clean organization make this apparently simple visual bookmarking tool a very effective start page builder and web destinations manager. Free to use. In private beta. Request your invitation here: http://www.wibki.com/ Read also the story behind Wibki here: http://www.wibki.com/blog/say-hi-to-wibki-the-future-of-browsing/ Related sites: www.startme.com
