Robert David Steele is a champion for Peace Intelligence who has sought since 1988 to redirect the craft of intelligence (decision-support) away from spies and secrecy enabling war and waste, toward open sources and methods favorable to peace and prosperity.

Most recently he has lectured in Denmark and Norway on the need for creating a Nordic Peace Intelligence Centre and network for multinational information-sharing and sense-making that relies primarily but not exclusively on Open Source Intelligence (OSINT), the modern domain of which he is the undisputed pioneer. He is the author of all of the major OSINT Handbooks (US Defense Intelligence Agency, North Atlantic Treaty Organization, US Special Operations Forces) and believes the time has come for the Nordics to update and advance the craft of intelligence so as to address the illegal immigrants and other emerging threats that he first forecast from 1989 onwards.

Transition Proposals Towards a Commons-Oriented Economy and Society

In the context of the Ecuadorian transition project towards a open commons-based knowledge society, see Floksociety.org, and to complement the prior analysis of three competing economic models in the age of peer production, I have formulated some transition proposals, on how to get from Phase 2, emerging peer production in the context of the dominance of cognitive and financial capitalism, to Phase 3, a mature peer production economy associated with a ethical economy and a partner state.

Leadership. The “School” of American Leadership Studies & Development (ALS&D) has been the largest mythological tyrant ever to spew propagandistic mythology (1); therein, inflating the lust for money, power, and control as measures of “success” in America (2). Much like Trump’s Great Man ascertations, about how “great” America can be, much like him-self – with the Great Man, ego-centric hegemon – in charge (3). Bernie, in contrast, says “we, not I,” (4) and thinks about relationships, not self. This is much like the transformational approach in leadership studies (5), as espoused by Burns (1978) and Rost (1991/3), and as codified within the Social Change Model, as created   by the National Clearinghouse for Leadership Studies at the University of Maryland, College Park (6).

Joe BrewerWhat If It’s All Connected? Humanity and the Global Crisis

Climate change cannot be addressed in isolation from the wealth-hoarding of capitalism that has made the world so unequal that a mere 62 individuals have the same aggregate wealth as 3.7 billion. Terrorism cannot be tackled in the absence of deep inquiries about what happens when money is treated as more sacred than life or spiritual tradition. Political corruption cannot be wrangled in without taking account of the commercialization of elections that treats each candidate like yet-another-product to be bought and sold in the marketplace of ideas.
