This post is to update you all about progress with InterReflections, while also alerting everyone to a new bulk deal for The Zeitgeist Film Trilogy DVDs. Regarding the latter, over the past few years I have been working to eventually release an extended box set of the Zeitgeist Film Trilogy. This would include many hours of extra interviews and commentary – along with an upgrade to the films’ quality. However, to make way for this, existing DVD inventories needs to move – so I am offering packages of 20 DVDs virtually at-cost. First Nation tribes from North America coined a term to describe the ‘disease of the white man’ – wetiko. In their understanding, wetiko consists of two essential characteristics: chronic inability for empathy and an egoistic fixation on ones own personal benefit and profit. The First Peoples used this word specifically because they could not fathom any other explanation for the behavior of the European colonialists. While often declared as unchangeable psychological features of humanity, greed, selfishness and violent impulses may in fact not be our “human nature” as many claim, but rather the outcome of our alienation under capitalist conditions.

This was a night dominated by the hollow men of the Democratic Party: Panetta, Kaine, Biden and Obama. Men who knew better, but did worse. The theme was liberal virility, strength, and managerial efficiency. Missing was any empathy for the homeless and the hungry, the poor and the downtrodden.

Barack Obama possesses so many scintillating skills, perhaps more skills than any other political figure of the modern era. Yet he put those magical gifts to such meagre, timid and often brutal uses. What a waste. His is the tragedy of a squandered presidency.
