96% Of Americans Expect More Civil Unrest In U.S. Cities This Summer

Are you ready for rioting, looting and mindless violence in major U.S. cities all summer long?  According to a brand new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll, 96 percent of all Americans believe that there will be more civil unrest in America this summer.  That leaves only 4 percent of people that believe that everything will be just fine.  In this day and age, it is virtually impossible to get 96 percent of Americans to agree on anything.  So the fact that just about everyone agrees that we are going to see more civil unrest should really tell you something.  The anger that has been building under the surface for so many years in this country has finally started to erupt.

One aspect of climate change that people are simply not fully comprehending is the massive changes in the natural environment that are going to come with it. This report about California is just one example of what I mean. The massive restructuring of natural systems is going to be very challenging to our civilization.

Drought kills 12 million trees in California's national forests

It isn't just trees. Climate change is going to disrupt the food system, which is going to disrupt us in significant ways.  Once again I urge you to grow food and encourage and facilitate local food production. Communities that do that will have an easier time going through this inevitable transition.  And that is the reality. This restructuring is going to happen, because climate change is already happening, as this report and the tree story make clear.

California’s Drought Could Upend America’s Entire Food System

Rights to Water and Land, a Common Struggle

The declaration on the rights to Water and Land, a Common Struggle, was originally presented at the World Social Forum in Tunis.

To date, more than 200 million hectares of land have been grabbed globally by private firms, governments, elites and speculators, often with the support of the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the G8 and other institutions and consortiums. The minority’s appropriation of our Commons leads to concentration, forced evictions and the oppression of peoples.
