Robert Steele: WIRED on London’s Amoral Tech Elite

Commerce, Ethics, IO Impotency

I completely endorse this view, never mind that the author cites me as one of three who maintain the public will no longer stand for global inequality. I have long said that we in the USA have erred in substituting technology for thinking, and I have long felt that the intelligence profession has lost touch with ethics, humanity, and purpose. Open Source Everything (OSE) is about transparency, truth, and trust — not to be found among most technologists, none of whom have a clue what “true cost economics” actually means. Kudos to WIRED for nailing the naked tech Emperor to the wall by his foreskin.

London's ‘amoral' tech elite is driving inequality

London's tech elite resides uncomfortably among some of the poorest neighbourhoods in the UK. Technology is inherently political, whether we are looking at privacy issues, convoluted tax arrangements or immigration exemptions, but many entrepreneurs on both sides of the Atlantic seem to operate in an amoral space, where optimisation, investment and exit strategies trump humility, equality and — according to campaigner and journalist Kirsty Styles — even right and wrong.

Marcus Aurelius: Robots to Conduct Security Clearance Interviews

Idiocy, Military
Marcus Aurelius
Marcus Aurelius

Really. This is not a spoof. If this is coming out of the National Center for Credibility Assessment, that must mean the school the Army runs for DoD down at Ft. Jackson, where they crank out polygraphers.  The polygraphers must be pooping their shorts.  They might have to go back to actually running investigations again.

Will the robots have to be 25 years old, have a college degree and have two years investigative experience? Will interviewees be hooked up to the bot with standard cardio, pneumo, and GSR leads which could then process responses through the Polyscore algorithm while embedded PCASS (not authorized for use on USPERs) does voice stress analysis?

China’s Advance in Latin America has more Challenges than Xi’s Visit Suggests

I recently taught a course in China based on my soon-to-be released book, Chinese Companies on the Ground in Latin America. While there, I interacted with Chinese research colleagues and students who hope to be the next Chinese diplomats and managers relocated to Latin America. Their perspectives differ from President Xi’s exuberant declarations and provide a glimpse of the challenges that lie ahead.

John Maquire: LENR (Cold Fusion) Dispenses with the Harmful Radiation & Waste – Plus Interview with Dr. Edmund Storms

05 Energy
John Maguire
John Maguire

LENR (aka Cold Fusion) entails the production of industrial-scale excess heat — often times producing energy densities associated with traditional “Hot Fusion”. In traditional hot fusion experiments, the reaction is not yet proven controllable and all sorts of harmful radiation result, which demands all sorts of precautionary measures costing huge sums. In the case of fission reactors, huge amounts of toxic waste with long half-lives have proven catastrophic to our environment. The cold fusion reaction does produce trace elements of nuclear products (such as tritium, neutrons, helium, energetic particles), which indicate that the reaction — in some way — is indeed “nuclear”. But all these products have been found to be largely inconsequential and harmless in this particular context. Neutrons, energetic particles, gammas, and so on, are emitted at very low levels (though well above the “background”) and have trouble escaping the interior of the environment where the reaction takes place. Tritium, while technically classified as “radioactive”, only has a half-life of twelve-years, so storage and disposal would be trivial in comparison to current efforts spent on maintaining huge storehouses of toxic waste produced from fission reactors.

SPECIAL RUSSIAN FEDERATION SITREP 23 July 2014

I've been doing these Sitreps for 14 years; I have never done a special before. But I have never felt that we were close to war before either. To go to war is bad enough, but to go to war over lies…

RUSSIAN MILITARY BRIEFING. The key points are 1. There was a Ukrainian fighter plane at the same altitude and 3-5 kilometres away from MH17; the radar traces are shown. It stayed on station as the Boeing was shot down; the radar traces are shown. 2. Ukrainian Buk air defence systems were in range; satellite pictures are shown. 3. The film supposedly showing a Russian Buk TEL being taken back to Russia was in fact taken in a city under Kiev's control as is proven by a background billboard. 4. The US was watching and the device doing the watching is named. The original full briefing; RT summary; another summary. Your local media outlet probably hasn't even mentioned it.

Self-managed villages of tiny houses => many solutions!

Self-managed villages of tiny houses can address many of the ills of homelessness, middle class struggles, civic belt-tightening, sustainability, quality of life issues, and more. Andy Heben is a pioneer bringing this vision into the world, especially in the US, with good research and on-the-ground accomplishments behind it. His new book Tent City Urbanism: From Self-Organized Camps to Tiny House Villages is a game-changing breakthrough envisioning co-intelligent housing that works for all now and into the future.

EXTRACT

In his book Andy proves that the cheapest and most effective approach to a city's “homeless problem” are city-authorized tiny-house villages managed by the otherwise homeless residents themselves and overseen by supportive people and organizations from the surrounding community. The stability, safety, and mutual assistance available in such a micro-village reduces the need for expensive services while increasing their ability to benefit from whatever services they do need, enhancing their transition from homelessness to more mainstream lifestyles.
