How Zcoin’s Privacy Technology Compares to the Competition

Unlike the previous anonymity schemes which involve obscuring the real transactions with other inputs or transactions, the Zerocoin protocol completely breaks the transaction links between coins through the use of zero-knowledge proofs.

This anonymity scheme is not without some drawbacks. In return for the huge anonymity set and breaking of transaction links, Zerocoin requires a one time trusted setup to generate initial parameters. In Zerocoin these are two very large prime numbers that need to be destroyed. Knowledge of these two large prime numbers would allow someone to forge Zerocoin spends and create coins out of thin air.

Why open source is government's ready-made pilot project

Phi Beta Iota: Worth a full read.  The author works for Elastic which is being screwed by Amazon (just as Amazon screwed Netflix and will eventually screw every IT vendor to the USG). USG lacks an Open Source Agency that could nurture the opens while keeping the legacy vendors honest.

Both China and the USA are making a huge mistake in embracing 5G, which is genocidal and ecocidal.  Developed in Israel, and forbidden in Israel, it is the fastest way to dumb down and ultimately kill off billions of people.

China Unicom's big bet on open source

It is a huge mistake by China to pursue 5G technology.  Developed in Israel, it is forbidden in Israel because this is a genocidal and ecocidal technology that all demands a localized infrastructure that is unaffordable and unsustainable.

5G @ Phi Beta Iota

The emphasis should be on open source and web 3.0 (distributed web) while also making provision to block all forms of censorship by private parties — China should be especially concerned about Facebook, Google, Twitter, and YouTube and beyond them, anything associated with Pierre Omidyar.

Corporations Are Co-Opting Right-to-Repair

Increasingly, companies use a variety of tactics to block access to repair. Companies either don’t sell replacement parts, or they sell them at ridiculous markups. They don’t make repair information, such as manuals or schematics, publicly available or open-source. They manipulate the software so that if you get unauthorized repairs done, the device locks until the manufacturer unlocks it. This forces the customer to take any problem to the original manufacturers, who can charge whatever they want. This means the manufacturing companies have all the cards to decide if, when, and how much it costs to fix something.
