Defunding Police – Is This the Right Choice or the Next Step in Revolution?

COVID-19 wrecked the economy, created 40 million unemployed who are now protesting unemployment rather than any particular police incident. We are in stage two of revolution. How military and police go will determine if it gets out of hand and goes totally violent in stage three. Education of the public — and restoration of economic and social justice — is the only non-violent exit strategy.

Virtue-mongering is what I define as an abrogation of the first principals of virtue, and a regression into a dumbed-down caricature of itself.
Virtue-mongering or “weaponized virtue”. . . is the assertion that merely staking claim to the higher moral ground makes one virtuous, and that one’s own belief system is universal. From that vantage point, all non-conforming viewpoints are by definition illegitimate and immoral.
Plato emphasized education of the public as the single most important role for government — to assure a strong smart wealthy nation the public needs to be educated. Similarly, as Ben Gilad cited one CEO in Business Blindspots, “until you get the truth on the table, no matter how ugly it is, you are not in a position to deal with it. And then you have research — trillions not just waste, but wasted in ways that are criminal.

Just 1,269 Republicans (plus a few more for good measure) of 2,537 delegates who bothered to participate out of a total of about 3,500 delegates who could have participated out of approximately 165,000 Republicans in Virginia’s 5th Congressional district (just over 165,000 Virginians in the district in 2018 voted to elect Riggleman) decided whether the Riggleman went on to the general election ballot.
In other words, less than 1 per cent (approx. 0.75%) of the number of Republicans who had elected Riggleman in 2018 dethroned him, preventing him from getting to the general election ballot. That’s REAL political power.
