While Buck McKeon and Lindsey Graham continue to join with Lockheed-Martin in their jobs scare campaign, Ben Freeman at POGO did some fascinating research. Bearing in mind that the dreaded doomsday machine of sequester would return DOD spending to 2006 levels of spending (adjusted for inflation), Ben looked at how major contractor revenue and employment in 2006 compare to the most recent data for 2011.

The answer provides an essential backdrop to what Lockheed and its messengers are attempting to foist.  US government revenues to five major defense contractors increased from $101 billion in 2006 to $113 billion in 2011 (+10%); meanwhile their overall employee count declined by over 18,000 (-3%).
The numbers for Lockheed are more dramatic: again in inflation adjusted dollars, Lockheed-Martin government revenues went up $6.7 billion or 18 percent, while it shed 17,000 employees, a decrease of 12 percent.
The data put the lie to what Lockheed, McKeon, Graham and others are trying to imply: if you “rescue” the defense budget with more money, you will save jobs.  These data from POGO make interesting grist for Lockheed, McKeon, Graham and their allies to explain.

Wisconsin Sikh Shooting False Flag: Multiple Shooters, Army Psy-OPs, the FBI, Operation Gladio, and the SPLC

A major question that remains in regards to Wade Michael Page is whether or not he was actually the live shooter or was set up as a patsy like so many other lone gunman in the past.

Following almost exactly the same pattern as the Colorado Theater Batman Shooting, numerous eyewitnesses have reported at least 4 different shooters just as the FBI claims that there is no reason to believe there was more than one shooter.

Family members of victims in the shooting reported that there were multiple shooters and one eyewitness even noted that men were seen casing the area beforehand.

“Between ten and ten-thirty, four white males who were dressed darkly, dressed in all black clothing, came in and opened fire on our congregation.”

The leader of the temple also confirmed that he had seen at least two suspicious looking men looking over the area before the shooting.

Clearly this shooting seems to be an organized operation and is being covered up by the corporate media as they push the lone gunman neo-nazi narrative down the throats of America, completely ignoring all witness accounts and other inconvenient facts that would expose this horrific false flag.

Phi Beta Iota:  Elements of the US Government — including elements within the US Army, the CIA, and the FBI as well as elements within the JCS, have been documented–indisputably documented–as being engaged in the murder of US citizens for political purposes and/or accepting murder of US citizens as a necessary cost of doing business.  We are concerned.  This incident will not be honestly investigated, as 9/11 was not honestly investigated, as Waco, Oklahoma, the USS Liberty, and so many other events have not been honestly investigated.  The US Government desperately needs a ruthless counterintelligence service, but first it needs an honest Congress and an honest White House.

NIGHTWATCH: Pakistan Flags Going Islamic – Pakistan as Islamic Israel

Pakistan: A Pakistani military court convicted five military officers, including Brigadier Ali Khan, for maintaining links to a banned organization. The Brigadier is the most senior of the five and received a sentence of five years in prison. The others received sentences of 18 months to three years.

The army did not name the banned organization, but officials have in the past identified it as Hizb ut-Tahrir – a British-based Islamist group that is banned in Pakistan.

Nice WAPO piece (by Greg Jaffe, of course) on the great COIN counterattack that is the AirSea Battle.  As scenario work goes, what CSBA has done in its war-games has to rank right up there with the most egregiously implausible efforts ever made to justify arms build-ups.  These games, done for Andrew Marshall's Office of Net Assessment, enthusiastically embrace what I have long dubbed the exceedingly narrow “war within the context of war” mindset – purposefully zeroing out all outside existing reality that readily contradicts the core operational concepts behind AirSea Battle.

The title of this post is my interpretation of what ADM James Stavridis, NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) and Commander of United States European Command (USEUCOM), says in a new TED Talk. To be fair, what he actually says is that strategic communication should be the means by which the partnerships of an open source security strategy will be knitted together.

I’ve been admirer of ADM Stavridis for a long time, especially his embrace of social media and public diplomacy (In the interest of full disclosure: In addition to my role as a scholar of strategic communication, narrative and social media at the CSC, I am also US Navy Reserve officer assigned to NATO ACT; my remarks here reflect my own opinions and not those of the US Navy nor NATO).  The admiral’s TED talk unites his own personal advocacy for transparency and connectedness in his leadership roles with NATO and US DOD (he has a substantial presence on Facebook and Twitter) with a broader vision of sustainable security efforts globally.

Introduction to Strategic Intelligence Warning. DIA has announced that reconstitution of Indications and Warning is a key component of its five year plan. Warning failures associated with the Arab Spring were cited as prompting this rediscovery of old truths.

Bravo to DIA for remembering that warning is the foundation of US intelligence. Being smart is less important than being safe, as a government activity.

The Mission

Strategic intelligence warning is the one of the two primary missions of US intelligence, according to the National Security Act of 1947. The first is to use intelligence to help keep the country prosperous and safe under all circumstances. Warning is the second mission. Discussion and debate about these missions may be found in the Congressional debates and legislative history of the National Security Act.

The intent of Congress in 1947, as documented in the legislative history of the National Security Act, was that Pearl Harbor attacks should never occur again. Their prevention was the reason Congress and a very reluctant President Truman approved the US intelligence organizations in the Department of Defense and in the then-new CIA.

Every intelligence analyst who has not read the National Security Act of 1947 and National Security Council Intelligence Directive -1 (NSCID-1) is deficient.

DIA, to its great credit, is trying to get back to the foundations of US intelligence: helping keep the Republic safe by providing intelligence warning.

“If those papers have to be produced over the nukes that later got lost in Oman, and on the watch of Dr. David Kelly, then it could be disastrous for David Cameron. This, particularly as one of the three atomic bombs lost back at the time of the first Gulf War, was exploded by North Korea on 25th May 2009.”

In 2006, North Korea exploded a plutonium based nuclear weapon, an unsuccessful test of a “found” nuke in poor repair, or something poorly designed.

America had predicted that they were at least five years from this capability, we always hear the same story, everyone is five years from having nuclear weapons.

On May 25th, 2009, North Korea exploded its second bomb, its first clearly identifiable nuclear weapon, a “Hiroshima sized” bomb, tiny by US standards.

What we didn’t say is that the signature of this bomb had been seen before.

An identical nuclear weapon, manufactured at the same facility, same design, same impurities, had been exploded in September 22, 1979, in a test in the Indian Ocean conducted jointly by Israel and South Africa.
