When Corporate Power Is Your Real Government, Corporate Media Is State Media
In a corporatist system of government, where no hard lines are drawn between corporate/financial power and state power, corporate media is state media. Since bribery is legal in the US political system in the form of corporate lobbying and campaign donations, America's elected government is controlled by wealthy elites who have money to burn and who benefit from maintaining a specific status quo arrangement.
Messaging: Pushing the Envelope
Another messaging service warrants some attention. The service is called Element. Element was formerly known as Riot and Vector, according to some individuals. The system is based on Matrix; that is, an open source protocol for real time communication. Element, like other modern messaging systems, encrypts data.
Element has the potential to become an open source alternative to encrypted messaging solutions from vendors like Facebook and Telegram.
HOWEVER: Until users of encrypted messaging services demand government respect for privacy, which is a Fourth Amendment issue in the US, governments will continue to pressure and possibly resort to what some may characterize as blackmail. The pressure may be unconstitutional in some countries and unwarranted in others.

UK startup Element is taking on the remote-collaboration space with an open project set to change the balance of power.
Spearheaded by multi-award winning investigative journalist Ben Swann, whose social following is nearing 1,000,000 subscribers.
