The Leap Manifesto was initiated in the spring of 2015 at a two-day meeting in Toronto and signed up to by more than 100 actors, musicians, labour unions, Indigenous rights leaders, environmentalists and religious leaders. The overarching aim of this “People's Agenda” is to wean the next federal Canadian government off fossil fuels by 2050 with a radical overhaul of the Canadian economy. Significantly, many of the National Democratic Party (currently leading in the polls for next month's federal election) number amongst the manifesto's highest profile supporters. Learn more.

Sepp Hasslberger: Nokola Tesla, Free Energy, and the Vedic Philosophy — Matter is Energy, Energy is Life

Only a deeply spiritual man like Nikola Tesla could have gone as far ahead in technological achievement as he did.

The Influence Of Vedic Philosophy On Nikola Tesla’s Idea Of Free Energy

Science works best when in harmony with nature. If we put these two together, we can discover great technologies that can only come about when the consciousness of the planet is ready to embrace them. One example is “free energy,” also known as “zero-point energy,” which utilizes the substance that exists all around us and converts it into usable energy. This would give us a limitless source of energy, and would practically wipe out all poverty on the planet. (more on this later in the article)

berto smallConfirmed: Saudi Arabia Offered Russia Oil Alliance and OPEC Membership

Saudis proposed Saudi Arabia and Russia divide the oil market between them. For now Russians stayed cool

Igor Sechin, the powerful head of Rosneft, Russia’s big state oil company, has now confirmed that OPEC – the Saudi dominated oil producers’ cartel – has offered Russia membership.   . . .    For the moment the Russians are saying no. Possibly the real reason is that the Russians are at present expanding aggressively into the Chinese energy market from which they have just ousted the Saudis as the biggest oil supplier.

Sepp Hasslberger: “Plonkable” Concentrated Solar Into Electricity On the Spot?

Concentrated solar uses the energy-rich infrared band of solar radiation and it has great promise, but it depends on simple and cheap tech being developed to capture and convert that heat to electricity.

South African team may have solved solar puzzle even Google couldn't crack

“We are developing plonkable heliostats. Plonkable means that from factory to installation you can just drop them down on to the ground and they work.” So no costly cement, no highly-trained workforce, no wires, just two workers to lay out the steel frames on the ground and a streetlight-style central tower.

CounterPunch: How US and WTO Screwed India Over Domestic Production of Solar Energy

counterpunch squareHow the US and the WTO Crushed India’s Subsidies for Solar Energy

The subsidies which provoked the ire of the United States are in the form of Domestic Content Requirements (DCRs). These mandate that a set proportion of specified materials used in the NSM must be manufactured in India. . . .  The US attack on India’s energy subsidies represents breathtaking hypocrisy. The US itself provides subsidizes for renewables.

Batteries without the fire hazard … and a longer life. Things are getting better.

Samsung, MIT say their solid-state batteries could last a lifetime

Researchers have developed a new material for a basic battery component that they say will enable almost indefinite power storage. The new material — a solid electrolyte — could not only increase battery life, but also storage capacity and safety, as liquid electrolytes are the leading cause of battery fires.   . . .   Another advantage of a solid-state lithium-ion battery is that it can perform under frigid temperatures.
