Baidu Cloud launches its open-source edge computing platform

“Edge computing is a critical component of Baidu’s ABC (AI, Big Data and Cloud Computing) strategy,” says Baidu VP and GM of Baidu Cloud Watson Yin. “By moving the compute closer to the source of the data, it greatly reduces the latency, lowers the bandwidth usage and ultimately brings real-time and immersive experiences to end users. And by providing an open source platform, we have also greatly simplified the process for developers to create their own edge computing applications.”

Penguin: Is EU Killing #GoogleGestapo?

Most do not understand that the EU's new regulations are not really about privacy and copyright, they are about killing #GoogleGestapo and particularly Google, Instagram, and YouTube. Any image, any video, that displays any brand leads to an “all stop” that requires checking and approval by the brand owner before publishing. This could be interpreted as the Deep State's very clever  way of shutting down the Internet social media complex.

I am sorry that I couldn’t find a way to get all member states to invest more in science.

I also regret not having been able to embed science and innovation in EU agricultural policy, which is very conservative and hard to penetrate.

…we plan a European Innovation Council to support highly innovative companies, particularly start-ups.

I managed to persuade Eurostat, the EU’s statistical office, to classify R&D as investment rather than expenditure. This was a small but important psychological breakthrough that helped change mindsets.
