Many serious commentators have noticed that since 2001, the most active Western governments in the War on Terror and their public media have stopped bothering with the subtleties of strategy, replacing it with two approaches to their staging of the public drama, both borrowed from Hollywood: First, what I call the casting or the shifting game of alliances between traditional nations who agree to be complicit in war devoid of strategy. And second, the reframing of the conflict as a simple moral tale, a struggle between good and evil.  Announce the stars and frame the drama.

Phi Beta Iota: We will update this post as other headlines are received from the contributing editor. No one wants to address the reality that Saudi Arabia and Israel are “root.” We believe Charlie Hebdo was a false flag state-sponsored attack and it is highly likely the Paris attacks and the forthcoming attacks in Berlin (or elsewhere now that the plan has been captured) are state-sponsored attacks. Study: Earth's groundwater mapped, quantified

The groundwater map is based on 40,000 groundwater models comprising data from nearly a million watersheds.

Their findings, published in the journal Nature Geoscience, suggest the planet holds 23 million cubic kilometers of total groundwater — roughly 5.5 million cubic miles. Only six percent of that water will be replenished over the next fifty years. In other words, most of Earth's hidden groundwater reserves are nonrenewable.

While Hollande’s reactionary declaration of war is understandable, it falls into the ideological trap laid by ISIS. France’s new state of emergency grants the government extraordinary powers that effectively put an end to democratic accountability, and give law-enforcement and security agencies unaccountable authority to run amok.

ISIS, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and their ‘Sovereign Wealth Funds'

The rapid spread of Islamic State could only have occurred with a high degree of funding and support from without. Qatar and Saudi Arabia have most often been named, with money for terrorism either coming from super-rich individuals or the governments themselves. We know that both countries channelled large funds into Islamist groups in Syria in the early stages of the war there and that the two Gulf states have spent billions of dollars on promoting the militant interpretation of Islam known as Wahhabism as well as committing many human rights abuses in their own countries.
