It's Official — Steele Won Virtual Presidency

I held a bi-partisan vote today, with me representing the Democratic Party while I represented the Republican Party. Strict ballot access controls ensured a unanimous outcome — the new Virtual President of the United States of America is Robert David Steele, or for Latinos, Roberto David de Steele y Vivas.

Over the next 45 days, on Tuesdays and Thursdays I will announce one critical policy decision, always in the context of a balanced budget and always with the public interest in mind — this is not going to be pretty, but 45 days from today, every American will be able to compare my virtual track record with the actual track record of those seeking re-election, or in the case of a tiny handful that overcame enormous obstacles, those seeking election for the first time.

Here is my first decision: America needs three Vice-Presidents, not one; a Vice President for the Commonwealth, who should be the Principal Vice President; a Vice President for Education, Intelligence, and Research; and a Vice President for National Security. I also reject the “winner take all” concept for naming my Cabinet, and will appoint a Coalition Cabinet in my next posting. When I run for actual election in 2012, all three Vice Presidents and all Cabinet members will be named 60 days prior to the election, and I will challenge my opponents to not only do the same, but to engage in cabinet level debates across the land, restoring the League of Women Voters as the honest broker of these debates. 30 days prior to Election Day, I will publish a balanced budget online, and I and my Cabinet will personally engage in a National Deliberative Dialog online, to ensure that before I am elected, my proposed balanced budget has the general approval of the entire voting public.

Education and restoration of the Republic will be my primary focus. If I fail, I will support Alaska, Hawaii, the Pacific Northwest, Texas, and Vermont in their growing demand for secession from the United States of America. The government we have today is out of control and out of touch; its time we flush the toilet we call the two-party tyranny.

Tim Berners-Lee Calls for Free Internet for All -- Full Story Online

Tim Berners-Lee calls for free internet worldwide

The inventor of the Web has called for everyone to have access to his creation for free.

Tim Berners-Lee said that he would like to see everybody given a low-bandwidth connection “by default”.

He said the web could be instrumental in giving people access to critical services such as healthcare.

Currently, he said, just one-fifth of the world's population has access to the web.

“What about the other 80%?” he asked the audience at the Nokia World conference in London.

Tip of the Hat to Pierre Levy at LinkedIn.

Phi Beta Iota: Sir Tim is on target but misses the critical point, which is that the Internet is already free, what is NOT free is the handheld device needed to access it.  Earth Intelligence Network and its 24 co-founders are committed to the idea of free cell phones for the five billion poor, along with national call centers that educate them “one cell call at a time” while also providing access to the kinds of Internet application that the Grameen AppLab is creating.

About the Idea

Multiple requests for “profiles” of founder Robert David Steele have come up, and inspire this particular posting for the convenience of those parties and others.  The World Brain & Global Game are inevitable.  It's just a matter of time and energy.  Who invests first will substantially influence whether they are imperial in nature, or multinationally and culturally neutral in nature.  They should of course be Open in nature (software, sources, and spectrum).

This graphic was created for a lecture to Eastern European Parliamentarians at the George C. Marshall Center in the mid-tolate 1990's.  Many understood back then that the Department of Defense (DoD) was the only element of the U.S. Government (USG) capable of serving as a hub or backbone for USG Whole of Government and dynamic or surge inter-agency operations as well as multinational operations other than war (OOTW).

Unfortunately, the military services have managed to avoid, undermine, or ignore leadership from a series of Secretaries of Defense, so today we do not have a Global Information Grid (GIG) nor do we have joint mobility, weapons, or communications systems that are truly inter-operable.

Originally posted online in 2008 when this Blog was first created, we are updating the publication date to make it more easily visible–this will be, we believe, a central graphic for the multinational endeavors of the future.
