Hillary Clinton has always been an old-style Midwestern Republican in the Illinois style; one severely infected with Methodism, unlike the more populist variants from Indiana, Wisconsin and Iowa.
For me life has meaning at two levels: truth, and family.
The truth is, as John D. Caputo says, “philosophy in transit.” One’s relation to the truth — and whether one places any emphasis on understanding the truth, defining the truth, living in truth — is the cosmic meaning of life.
At a second level, and I grieve that I did not learn this until my third of three sons, the meaning of life changes once you have children. Before children, one must strive to be all they can be, to contribute and impact on community, nation, world, and profession. After having children, there is no more important charge than to help those children be better than oneself. Balancing external accomplishments and internal family commitments should not be an option. If you have a child you have a mission. The education of your child or children is your true legacy — everything else is secondary.

No developed Christian country has a sustainable birthrate, and just as many White people are freaked out at America becoming a majority minority nation, so the freak out becomes all the greater when they learn that Christians will soon be a smaller group than Muslims, as this report describes. And here is the kicker: As the U.S. has repeatedly injected itself into the Muslim world, often with violence and death as a result, how do you think the people who live in Islamic countries, and who are still offended by the 13th century Crusades will feel about the U.S. in the future?
